The exterior of Tony Duquette’s first studio on Fountain avenue in Los Angeles. The facade covered with white lattice and crowned with a fantasy finial in iron gave way to an entrance draped in canvas painted with fleur de lis. The unusual new “Duquette” look for the neighborhood in juxtaposition to the next door liquor store caused the locals to dub the property “the house of the gypsy fortune teller”.
