IN THE 1980’S TONY DUQUETTE PURCHASED AN ABANDONED AND VANDALIZED SYNAGOGUE IN SAN FRANCISCO AND TURNED THE HISTORIC BUILDING INTO THE DUQUETTE PAVILION OF ST. FRANCIS NAMING IT FOR THE PATRON SAINT OF THE CITY.  DUQUETTE USED THE PAVILION TO CREATE A CELEBRATIONAL ENVIRONMENT WHICH HE CALLED “THE CANTICLE OF THE SUN OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI”.   WITH COMPUTERIZED LIGHTING, SPECIALLY COMPOSED MUSIC BY HERB ALPERT, AND WORDS WRITTEN BY RAY BRADBURY ALONG WITH SCULPTURES AND TAPESTRIES OF HIS OWN INVENTION, DUQUETTE OPENED THE BUILDING TO THE PUBLIC.  THE EXHIBITION WHICH INCORPORATED HIS “ANGEL” EXHIBITION BROUGHT UP FROM LOS ANGELES, WOULD BE DESTROYED SEVERAL YEARS LATER IN A FREAK ELECTRICAL FIRE WHICH CONSUMED MOST OF DUQUETTE’S ORIGINAL WORKS OF ART, COLLECTIONS OF RARE ANTIQUES AND THE ENTIRE BUILDING.

DUQUETTE CREATED THE SUNBURST OUT OF PIPES FROM THE ORIGINAL (DESTROYED) PIPE ORGAN IN THE BUILDING.

THE TAPESTRIES WHICH TONY DUQUETTE DESIGNED AND MADE WERE 15 FEET X 20 FEET, THE CEILINGS IN THE ROOM WERE 80 FEET HIGH.

DUQUETTE PLACED SEATING AREAS UNDER THE BALCONIES USING FURNITURE OF HIS OWN INVENTION, TAPESTRIES AND SCULPTURES.
